Paul Roos Wines proudly featured in the Chef Magazine, November 2018


With the motto to ‘build South Africa one child at a time’, it’s immediately clear that Paul Roos Wines have a social agenda at the heart of their brand. Tjuks Roos and his brother Johan are the fifth generation of Roos to farm the land at Rust en Vrede near Stellenbosch and they established a crèche in 1983 for the children of full-time and contract workers. Since then, not a single child has had to repeat a school year. Winemaker Augustus Dale launched two premium wines under the Paul Roos brand in 2015: Die Skoolhoof, a Chenin Blanc blend, and Die Filantroop, a Shiraz blend. The wine project is specifically aimed at providing an educational programme for the children of the farm workers, from créche through to university.
